FAQ

  • How do I buy from you?
There are a couple of ways to purchase and receive my products. From the website: Ceramic art and pottery can be relatively heavy and it is necessary to have pieces wrapped securely. Every effort is made to ensure your order arrives as expected. See Shipping and Returns for more details on postage. In person sales: Tynemouth Metro Station Market, Station Terrace, Tynemouth, North Shields NE30 4RE. I really enjoy meeting and chatting to customers in person, so if you live in the locality or are visiting our wonderful North East, pop in to the working Victorian Metro Station in Tynemouth. You will find a wide selection of interesting market stalls. Definitely worth a visit. My stall is located on Platform 1, the smaller platform, on Saturdays. Other markets Occasionally I will be selling at other craft fairs or farmers markets. Prior notification of these will be posted on my Instagram site mccrackpots or by subscribed email. To pick up from the studio in Durham, contact me by email to arrange.
  • How do I keep up to date with news from the pottery?
To be kept up to date on what I'm making and where I will be selling, it is best to subscribe to email. I will give prior info about what is next to be coming out of the kiln, and general info about my world of pottery. I will only post/email if I feel there is something useful that you would like to know. I also put notes onto my Instagram page, mccrackpots of the dates when the market is not open or if I will not be there that day.
  • How long will my order take to dispatch?
I upload my produce onto the website as a batch when I have pieces ready. Stock will also be on sale at my stall in the market on Saturdays. I can dispatch ready items on the same or next day. Commissioned or personalised pieces may take up to 8 weeks, depending on where I am in the making or glazing phase of production.
  • Are the glazes food safe?
Yes. Unless I explicitly state otherwise, all the glazes I use are food safe.
  • Are your ceramics dishwasher safe?
They are. However, as with glass ware, over time the dishwasher will dull the glaze. If you are concerned about the longevity and shine, handwashing is recommended.
  • Will unglazed clay on a piece be likely to mark or stain?
Generally no. The clay has been fired to vitrification, meaning that it's essentially waterproof and becomes ceramic. With usual use and foods, pots should not become stained.
  • Can I return an item?
Yes. I want you to be completely satisfied with your order, so please get in touch if there's an issue. More details can be found on the Shipping and Returns page.
  • How are the sizes/capacities measured?
The capacity of a mug/tumbler etc is measured full to the rim. Check the capacity of a favourite mug you have to determine if the size of a new one is correct for you. Everyone has their own ideas of what makes a perfect mug! I would like your favourite to be one of mine!😊
  • Do you ship to countries outside the UK?
No. Currently I am only shipping to the UK.
